Patrick Moring, television and news production adviser at Rampart HS in Colorado Springs, has earned first place in CHPSA’s first adviser-only competition.
Moring’s video was created to promote the school to students, parents and community members. It includes a range of on-camera interviews and varied videography shot around the campus.
This video was part of the Visual Journalism portion of the contest, which includes adviser photojournalism or short videos.
CHSPA is interested in helping advisers not only develop their advising skills but in providing an opportunity for advisers to “practice what they preach.” Future contests will expand from Visual Journalism to narrative writing and opinion writing.
Related to CHSPA’s efforts is a new Journalism Education Association initiative, called the Day of Doing, which will debut this summer. Check out this exciting opportunity to showcase all sorts of adviser media work and sign up to be part of the fun.
