Best of Colorado – History

A quick recap

The Best of Colorado awards began in 2010-11, replacing the previous Sweepstakes competitions (which totaled points from the various individual competitions to award first, second, and third in each enrollment classification). Sweepstakes winners were announced during the awards ceremony that closed J-Day each fall.

The concept of Best of Colorado was to be more focused on the individual students and to make sure everyone received their awards in May, prior to graduation. To provide more of a school medium award system, the All-Colorado critiques and ratings were also begun in the 2010-11 school year.

During the first two years of Best of Colorado, a complex system was used for schools to submit electronic versions of pages, and results were organized differently from recent years. But all results can be found below. In 2012-13, we partnered with BetterNewspaperContests.com to make use of their online contest submission system, which is searchable, and easy to use for schools, judges, and the contest administrator.
