Camila Fowler, senior at Mountain Vista High School, is the 2021 Eric Benson Scholarship winner. This is a one-time $2000 scholarship funded by Sue and Bruce Benson in honor of their son.
According to one member of the selection committee, Fowler’s portfolio reveals that her strength is initiative. “She seeks out opportunities and goes for them. Her personal writing possesses voice and vibrancy. It is a compelling read, full of passion, and with strong voice. She also demonstrates strong news sense in recognizing the news in unfolding events and unexpected opportunities.”
Another member of the committee stated that Fowler’s “nice mix of video was appealing and she definitely demonstrated her well-rounded and extensive journalism experience at Vista.”
