New citizen journalism contest announced

For students in the Colorado Springs area this year, with future expansion possible
New+citizen+journalism+contest+announced

The Citizen and Student Journalism Contest has launched! And CHSPA is glad to endorse this opportunity for students near El Paso County.

Some program highlights:

  • Nearly $10,000 in cash prizes will be awarded in categories for middle/high school students, college students, and adults
  • Submissions are accepted through December 6 for print, video, audio and photojournalism
  • Free skill-building workshops will be held in Colorado Springs and available online in late October (the full schedule is attached)
  • Content creation stations are available at most community libraries in El Paso County where people will have free access to editing software and technical assistance
  • Work that has been previously published in a student newspaper/TV or radio station is eligible
