A fall day on the Boulder campus of The University of Colorado, a chance to hear from a layer and a professional journalist, both experts in media law, and an opportunity to compete in an on-the-spot editorial writing contest sound good?
Then start making plans for a trip to Boulder on Saturday, Sept. 17. The day begins in the Eaton Humanities Lecture Hall. Check out this campus map for the specific location. There will be plenty of parking available.
CHSPA and the CU-Boulder School of Journalism and Mass Communication are co-sponsoring our first Constitution Day, and it’s a great chance to learn more about the Constitution, with a focus on the First Amendment, and to hear from professional journalists, media attorneys and journalism professors.
The event is free (lunch is on your own), and your school need not be a CHSPA member to participate. In fact, we encourage any teacher and any students in the area to consider attending. We have room for 250, so don’t delay in getting your registration form in. No need to mail anything. We will register electronically.
Tentative schedule:
- 10 a.m. – Opening Keynote Assembly
- 10:45 – Staff editorial board meetings
- 11 a.m. – On-the-spot editorial writing / panel discussion on Colorado press rights
- Noon – Lunch on your own / campus mini-tours
- 1:30 – Closing Assembly / Awards
