Competition Comment: Profiles are so important to student media, no matter the platform. They invite depth in reporting and usually reveal parts of lives that most have no idea about. The best profiles are structured like great narrative writing, with leads that drop readers into scenes where they can see people in action, with a focus on some aspect of the profiled person's life... not a a biography that follows them over a dozen years. In the end, our goal has to be readers saying, "I had no idea."
