The J-Day Best of Show contest is a chance to see how your newspaper/newsmagazine, yearbook photojournalism, video broadcast, or website stacks up against the best in the state.
Everything was submitted a few days prior to J-Day, though only schools registered for J-Day could actually enter. Here are the 2012 instructions: Just download these instructions (in Word) and be sure to upload your best work of the 2012-13 school year prior to midnight on Oct. 8.
Best of Show for newsmagazine judging is holistic, so content, writing, design and photo/art all factor in. The thought was that a paper could enter three pages, with one of them page 1. So a paper could enter pages 1 and 8-9 (center spread), or pages 1, 4 and 12, etc.
