Competition Comment: As publications are morphing into new forms, one thing that remains is the need to give readers depth in coverage to help them really understand the significance of sports and how our students dedicate their lives to them.
Entries in this category tended to be summaries of entire seasons, opting for breadth but very little depth. My suggestion is more focus on key moments and key players. Those scenes and characters are what elevate great sports writing to become, simply, great writing.
