Competition Comment: Our default in yearbook writing tends to be to "sum up," but that is always a less compelling choice compared to finding a significant moment or scene to recreate. Extended captions give us automatic focus (what's happening and who is that?) but also can be the model for how to tighten our "lens" to help readers experience and connect with our reporting. Our best entries in this category focused on people, not events.
