Competition Comment: This competition had some very good future journalists! It is nice to see such good work being done by students, so their teachers must be doing a good job of explaining how to make stories better. The area that most needed attention in these videos was just that video. Most of these entrants could have used some better shots, from wide, to medium, to close up, of their subjects, which would have made their stories much more visually pleasing. Having judged many of these pieces, it seems that is the area lacking in most of them. If you watch the top two videos in this category, you will see how much the video can enhance the story.
I am impressed with most everyone's interview skills, as the answers to their questions made for compelling stories. These were all mostly edited well, with a stray jump cut here and there, audio levels were pretty good throughout. Great to see the nice work done across the state of Colorado.
