mvhs-1
The Eagle Eye is a magazine (letter-sized) from Mountain Vista HS in Highlands Ranch. This issue featured an eye-catching cover photo, and a “tease” to inside coverage on the theme of FEARless (which CSMA appreciates).
mvhs-2
The spread from the Eagle Eye focuses on the presidential election, mixing quick reads with a profile and information graphics to provide a variety of information to readers. The magazine focused on issues of most interest to high school students, of course.
mvhs-3
This spread on the theme of FEARless gives us an in-depth profile of a young writer who hopes to challenge her own readers to take on their fears. While this is basically a long piece of text with one environmental portrait, the layout of the spread is inviting and not overwhelming.
hrhs-1
A full bleed photo, demonstrating selective depth of field to enhance its story telling, gets the Chronicle, from Highlands Ranch HS, off to a great start. This is also a letter-sized magazine.
hrhs-2
Successful magazines tend to combine very short pieces with longer, in-depth writing, providing something for everyone.
hrhs-3
Readers like well-edited photo essays, such as this one, which covers a summer trip, but at a quick pace.
hrhs-4
Great publications are always asking: “How can we help our readers?” This page provides specific advice in a format that is inviting, and focuses on each grade.
hrhs-5
A successful magazine (or any other medium) benefits from a mix of the serious and the silly, of the insightful and the deeply felt. This page from The Chronicle focuses on football nights, with a recurring feature tucked in on wacky things overheard around the school.
